Obituary of Kathleen A. (O'Brien) May

Kathleen A. (O’ Brien) May, 49, of Bourbon St., beloved wife of John Oogie May of Peabody, died Friday evening at her home following a long battle with ALS Disease. Born in Peabody, she was a lifelong resident of the city. She was the daughter of the late Stephen and Patricia (Sheehy) O’ Brien, and attended Peabody schools. She graduated from Peabody High School, Class of 1971. She furthered her education at Salem State College, and also returned to Essex Agricultural College to study Personal Grooming and Cosmetology and worked as a Manicurist. Mrs. May worked in Customer Service at Alliance Food Products in Peabody for many years before changing careers. She worked as a Manicurist at Brooksby Village in Peabody as her last assignment before retiring due to her progressive health problems. She enjoyed time spent at home with her family, but also was very fond of socializing and meeting friends. She was a member of the Ladies Auxilliary of the A.O.H., Division 11 of Peabody, loved the New England Coast and boating in the ocean or lake, swimming, and music, especially from the 60’ s and 70’ s. Although they will dearly miss her, her family and friends feel thankful that she is in a more peaceful place now, including her husband, John Oogie May of Peabody, with whom she shared 20 years of marriage; a son, Steven Sinapis of Peabody; a step-son, James May of CT; a step-daughter, Christine Millim of AZ; four grandchildren, Rob Millim, Kassie Millim, and Jackie Millim, all of AZ, and James May of CT; one sister, Maureen Moutsoulas of NH, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and other family and friends. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday at 10 AM from the Conway facility at 12 Chestnut ST. of the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM in ST. John’ s Church, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Cremation will follow and an Ocean Memorial is planned in the future. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Association, Massachusetts Chapter, 75 McNeil Way, 201, Dedham, MA 02026.
