Obituary of Catherine (Gigliotti) Navarro Cronin

Catherine (Gigliotti) Cronin, 97, of Peabody, wife of the late Cecilia Navarro and Denis P. Cronin, died Sunday evening at the Cedar Glen Nursing Home in Danvers. Mrs. Cronin was born on July 3, 1909 in Vena - di Maida, Italy daughter of the late Frank and Catherine (Scarcellar) Gigliotti. She immigrated to the United States as an infant, was raised and educated in Peabody and studied to become a Licensed Practical Nurse at Norwood Hospital. She was a lifelong resident of the Peabody. Mrs. Cronin was employed for 30 years as an L.P.N. private duty nurse until her retirement in 1970. She was a member of the Golden Agers and the Peabody Council on Aging. As hobbies she enjoyed singing, dancing and knitting. Mrs. Cronin is survived by 2 sisters, Lena and her husband William Styles and Lucy Peterson all of Peabody; 5 granddaughters, Elaine Bezemes Turner of Beverly, Diane Marron of Peabody, Cheryl McCauley, Janet Bezemes Daniels both of Danvers and Kathryn Bezemes of Nahant; 9 great grandchildren, 7 great great-grandchildren; a step-daughter and her husband, Mary-Agnes and Salvatore Randazza of Gloucester; 3 step grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. Her daughter Cecilia Bezemes and her siblings, Rachel Wheeler, Mary Trabucco, Anthony Gigliotti, William Gigliotti, Carmen Gigliotti, Bernard “Benjamin” Gigliotti and Frank Gelott predeceased her. Her funeral will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St., (downtown location, Peabody followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, 16 Church St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Wednesday 5 to 8 p.m. Her burial of ashes will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the North Shore Cancer Center, 17 Centennial Dr., Peabody MA 01960 or the Lupus Foundation, 40 Speen St., Framingham MA 01701.
