Obituary of Genevieve C. (Dzierzak) Kapaon

Genevieve “Gen” (Dzierzak) Kapaon, 84, of Peabody died Thursday morning at the Sunrise Assisted Living at Gardner Park after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Stephen N. Kapaon with whom she shared 47 years of marriage. She was born in Peabody on January 6, 1922, the daughter of the late Leopold and Catherine (Zabourna) Dzierzak and was raised and educated in Peabody Schools and resided here all her life. She had been employed for several years at the former A.C. Lawrence Leather Company of Peabody. Mrs. Kapaon was a communicant of the former St. Joseph’s Church in Peabody. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family and playing solitaire and word puzzles. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be deeply missed. Genevieve is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Jean A. Kapaon and Janis M. and John Marren all of Peabody, a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Stephen P. Kapaon and his wife Janice of Northborough,MA, a sister, Elizabeth Grocki of Peabody, four grandchildren, Andrea and John Marren of Peabody and Matthew and David Kapaon of Northborough and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was the sister of the late Jennie Malachowski, Anna Jeglinski, Vera Dzierzak, Chester, Michael and John Dzierzak. A Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00 until 5:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the new 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. Her Funeral Service will be held there on Monday at 11:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
