Obituary of Corrado J. Bonfanti
Corrado J. Charles Bonfanti, 88, of Peabody, died early
Monday Morning at the Rosewood Nursing Home, Peabody after a brief illness. He was the husband of Josephine (Moschetti) Bonfanti with whom he shared 64 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Wakefield, he was the son of the late Leonard and Angelina (Cavalleri) Bonfanti and had resided in Peabody for the past 62 years.
He had been in the leather industry for over 40 years having first started at the
Agoos Leather Co. in Lynn and was the founder of the Bond Leather Co. and later the
Bon-Tan Leather Co. both of Peabody where he was employed for 10 years prior to his retirement 20 years ago.
While living in Wakefield, he belonged to the Boys Club where he was introduced to
Boxing and entered the Golden Gloves where he was crowned Champion in the US Amateur Boxing contest in the Featherweight division. He coached boxing at the
A.O.H. Div. 18 in Salem and later at Larry Leavitts’ Gym in Peabody for many years.
During WW 11, he had been an air raid warden in the City of Peabody.
Surviving him besides his wife are 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Charles J. and Faith
Bonfanti of Bristol, N.H. and Michael J. and Fawn Bonfanti of Londonderry, N.H.,
2 daughters and sons-in-law, Angela Bonnie and Paul Derrivan and Rose-Marie and
William Newbury all of Peabody, a brother, Joseph Bonfanti of Salem, 4 sisters, Mary Mallia and Connie Saco both of Peabody, Josephine De Francisco of Epping, N.H. and
Rose Moschetto of Danvers and Florida; 11 grandchidren, 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Ignatious, Manuel and Leonard Bonfanti and Cora Fronte.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St., Peabody facility followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Adelaide’ s Church,
Lowell St., West Peabody at 10:00 a.m. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
Visiting hours on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. Relatives and friends kindly invited.
