Obituary of Joseph F. O'Brien
Joseph F. O’Brien, 91, of Peabody, died Sunday evening at the Brighton Gardens in Danvers following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of the late E. Marguerite (Kidney) O’Brien.
Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Joseph and Isabel (Donahue) O’Brien. He later live in Marblehead and has spent the last 32 years living in Peabody.
He was a driver for the Retail Stores Delivery Company and retired after 25 years of service. He also was a lifelong member of the Teamsters Local 25.
After his retirement, Mr. O’Brien worked as a crossing guard for the city of Peabody at the Kiley School for an additional ten years. He also enjoyed watching football and was a big fan of the New England Patriots, Boston College Eagles and the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame football programs.
He is survived by his three sons, James O’Brien of MacLean, VA., William O’Brien of Braceville, IL, and John O’Brien of Peabody, his daughter, Patricia O’Brien of Los Angeles, CA, and is also survived by his granddaughter, Lucy O’Brien and her husband Mark of Berkeley, CA. He was the brother of the late Isabel McDonald and Edwina Washburn.
His funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, at the 82 Lynn Street (NEW FACILITY) Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Adelaide’s Church, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours are on Tuesday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Beacon Hospice, 100 Cummings Center, Suite 222C, Beverly, MA 01915.
