Obituary of Irma (Berroa) Rivera

Irma Rivera Irma Rivera, beloved wife of Deacon Valentin Rivera of St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody, died at her home on Wednesday. Born in San Pedro, Dominican Republic, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Carmen (del Castillo) Berroa. She lived there in her youth, and then moved to Brooklyn, NY in 1961 where she met her husband. She moved to Lynn in 1965 where she lived for 37 years until moving to Salem for the last 2 years. She was employed as a Factory Worker in the Shoe Manufacturing Industry in several places in Lynn. Mrs. Rivera always enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and was a tremendously devoted communicant at St. John the Baptist Church in Peabody, active in many faith related activities there. She is survived by: her husband, Deacon Valentin Rivera of Salem, with whom she shared 43 years of marriage; one nephew who she adopted as a son, Manny Berroa of the Dominican Republic; one niece, Xiomara Taylor of the Dominican Republic; a sister, Daisy Crime of Salem other nephews Carmen Stowe and Jose Crime, both of Lynn, and Jose Berroa of St. Louis, MS, and many relatives , nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews in the Dominican Republic and United States. She was preceded in death by a sister, Lourdes Berroa. Her funeral will be held on Saturyday at 10 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut ST. location, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM in ST. John’ s Church, Peabody. Relatives and friends kindly invited. A visitation will be held today from 5 to 8 P.M. Burial will be in St. Joseph’ s Cemetery, Lynn
