Obituary of Edmond A. "Wink" Perry Jr.
Edmond A. “Wink” Perry Jr., 72, of Peabody, died Friday evening at his residence surrounded by his family after a long illness. He was the husband of Mary A. (McCarthy) Perry with whom he shared 47 years of marriage.
He was born in Peabody on July 30, 1934, the son of the late Edmond A. and Annie (Hannemann) Perry Sr. and had resided in Peabody most of his life.
He was first employed as a Floor Sander for 12 years. He was later employed at the Peabody Muncipal Light Plant for 25 years retiring in 1996. He then became a grounds man at the Wenham Golf Cub for 8 years prior to his retirement 2 years ago.
He was a founding member of the Knight Riders Car Club of Peabody and enjoyed NASCAR racing. He was also a member of the Peabody Historical Commission and the Peabody Historical Society for many years. He and his son were the recipients of the Pioneer Award from the Historical Society for the Restoration of the Smith Barn on Felton St., Peabody.
Mr. Perry was a Ward 1 Democratic Chairman for
many years and bowled on the St. Ann’s Bowling League and the Knights of Columbus Bowling League. He was also a member of the Lodge of Elks #1409 of Peabody.
Surviving him besides his wife are 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Teri Perry of Salem, Ma and James Perry and Michelle Perry of Peabody, a daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Nate Sharman of Hooksett, NH, 4 grandchildren, Amie Lynn Perry,Janelle Perry , Jenna Ferrier and Tyler Ferrier, a brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Polly Perry of Danvers, his brothers and sister-in-law, James and his wife Louise McCarthy of NY, John and his wife Helen McCarthy of CA and Judi Daly and her partner, David Dabrieo of Peabody and several nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3:00 until 7:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn ST., Peabody facility. His Funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, So Peabody at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
