Obituary of Betty (Kooshkalis) Rocco

Betty (Kooshkalis) Rocco, 74, of Peabody, died Saturday morning at Union Hospital in Lynn following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of Louis Rocco with whom she shared over 55 years of marriage. Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Steve and Angeliki (Christopoulos) Kooshkalis. She was a lifelong resident of Peabody and attended Peabody Public Schools. She was a long time member of St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church and a member of the Philoptohos Society and the Maids of Athens. She also loved traveling and cooking. Family was her life and home was a place where she created a warm and happy atmosphere and everyone was always loved and welcomed. Besides her loving husband Louis, she is survived by her three sons and two daughters-in-law, John and Kim Rocco of Peabody, Andrew and Lynne Rocco of Lynn, and Michael Rocco of Georgetown, a brother, Peter Kooskalis of Florida, two sisters, Demetria Kefalas and Patricia Nichols, both of Peabody, her four grandchildren, Joseph and Anthony Rocco of Peabody and Zachary and Jacob Rocco of Lynn, and is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Louis Kooshkalis. Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn Street, Peabody Facility, followed by Services at 11:00 AM at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours are on Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in her name to the Special Olympics, P.O. Box 303, Hathorne, MA 01937.
