Obituary of Edward D. McCarthy

Edward D. McCarthy, 56, beloved husband of Donna (Boggoch) McCarthy of Peabody, died peacefully at his home on Monday morning surrounded by his family, following a short illness. Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late Edward and Ruth (Brennan) McCarthy. He attended Peabody schools, graduated from Peabody High School, and was a lifelong resident of the city. He was in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve during the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1975. He was employed as a Shipper/Receiver and Warehouse Manager with Stahl Finish in Peabody for 31 years before his retirement. He recently worked with Northeast Cartage in Salem. Mr. McCarthy was a member of the Essex County Marine Corps League Detachment, the B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge 1409 of Peabody, served as a Bartender at the Elks Lodge, was a Coach for Peabody Rec. Department Softball and golf, and enjoyed Nascar Racing, Golf and Softball. He is survived by: his wife, Donna (Boggoch) McCarthy of Peabody, with whom he shared 28 years of marriage; three daughters, twins Keri McCarthy and Kristen McCarthy, and Colleen McCarthy all of Peabody; two grandchildren, Kayla Narbonne, age 5 and Gina Narbonne, age 4 both of Peabody; a brother, Thomas & Tina (Bovio)McCarthy of Peabody; a sister, Janice & John Garlin of Peabody; four nieces, four nephews, and several cousins, aunts, and uncles, enjoyed close relationships with his wife's Boggoch extended family, and the family dogs Mack, Sarge and cat Rascal. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 8 P.M. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to his funeral which will be held on Thursday at 9 AM from the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in St. Ann’s Church, Lynn St., Peabody. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
