Obituary of Alice T. (Kijewski) Kolenda
Alice T. (Kijewski) Kolenda, 81, of Peabody and formerly of Marblehead and Saugus, died peacefully Wednesday afternoon at Salem Hospital following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Michael A. Kolenda.
Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Felix and Helen (Pietrowski) Kijewski. She was raised and educated in Boston, upon her marriage to her husband Michael, moved to Saugus and later lived in Marblehead for 18 years and has lived in Peabody for the past 2 years.
She worked as an accountant for the Carter Off Shore Company in Nahant for many years and prior to that worked at a bank in Boston doing estate taxes and family planning.
She was a member of the Polish National Alliance and an active member of the Adel Hostel Traveling Group in Boston.
She is survived by her two sons, Paul Kolenda of Crosby, TX and Michael Kolenda of Saugus, her daughter, Michelle Kolenda of Naples, Fla., a brother, Bill Kijewski of Concord, NH and is also survived by four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
A Memorial Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at 9:00 AM in Blessed Sacrament Church, Saugus, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be private.
