Obituary of Sister Catherine William Connolly S.N.D.

Sister Catherine William Connolly, S.N.D., 86, died Christmas evening at the Sister Julie Billiart Residential Care Center in Ipswich. Sister Catherine was born Catherine Louise Connolly on December 9, 1920 in Salem, MA the daughter of the late William A. and Catherine (Mulligan) Connolly. Sister Catherine was a Sister of Notre Dame de Namur for 60 years. Sister received her Bachelor of Science degree from Salem State College and her Masters Degree from Boston College. Sister’s ministries were in South Boston, Cambridge, Brighton, Waltham, Tyngsboro, Beverly and 33 years in Japan. She was the sister of the late Rev. William Connolly, S.J., Dr. Richard Connolly, Dr. James Connolly and Marie Faircloth. She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Kathleen Fina, Ann Marie Wall, Jan Kentros, Carol Farley, Pat Connolly-Atkins, Christine Connolly, Katie Carlin, Louise Pettinato, Lee Forsloff, William Faircloth Jr. and Paul Faircloth, and her family the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur and many great nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 28,2006 at 3:00 PM in Our Lady Queen Chapel, 30 Jeffrey’s Neck Road, Ipswich. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Thursday from 1 until 3 PM at the Sisters of Notre Dame in Ipswich. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Ipswich. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur Retirement Fund, 30 Jeffrey’s Neck Rd., Ipswich, MA 01938.
