Obituary of Hedwig "Hedy" (Gulden) Chaves

Mrs. Hedwig “Hedy” (Gulden) Chaves, 80, of Lynn, died Wednesday evening at the Hunt Nursing Center in Danvers after a short illness. She was the wife of the late Albert A. Chaves who died earlier this year. She was born on September 16, 1926 and raised in the German and Austria area of Europe where she met and married her late husband in 1952. When she came to America, she first settled in Peabody and later in Gardner before moving to Lynn 45 years ago. She was a graduate of Bentley College with a degree in Finance and was first employed at the Simplex Time Recorder Company in Gardner for 6 years. Later she was employed as chief finance accountant for the law firm of Peabody and Brown in Boston for twenty years prior to her retirement. She and her husband loved to travel throughout North America. She also enjoyed her animal friends and caring for her family. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Anthony J. “Tony” and Janice H. Chaves of Danvers, 4 grandchildren, Anthony and his wife Christina Chaves of Haverhill, Suzanne J., Leanne K. and Matthew R. Chaves all of Danvers and a great granddaughter, Olivia Rose Chaves of Haverhill. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2:00 -4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. A Funeral Service will be held there on Wednesday at 11:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
