Obituary of Eleni (Tasis) Nanis
Eleni (Tasis) Nanis, 93, of Peabody, died Thursday at the Peabody Glenn Nursing Home in Peabody after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Nicholas Nanis.
She was born on March 15, 1913 in Ipiros, Greece the daughter of the late Costandinos and Costandina (Tasis) Tasis and was raised and educated there. She immigrated to the United States in 1964 and had resided all her time here in Peabody.
She had been a member of St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church and was a member of the Philoptohos Athena of Peabody.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Jenny Nanis of Salem, two daughters and sons-in-law, Theodora and Nicholas Gikas and Athena and Vasilios Malekakis all of Peabody, nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Caliope Lira.
A Visitation will be held on Sunday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the new 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. Her Funeral will be held on Monday at 9:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by Services in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Peabody at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Salem. Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Vasilios Church, 7 Paleologos St., Peabody, MA 01960 in her memory.
