Obituary of Genevieve K. (Dziewguc) Smyrnios

Genevieve K. (Dziewguc) Smyrnios, 87, of Peabody, died Saturday morning at the Salem Hospital after a short illness. She was born in Salem on November 10, 1919 the daughter of the late Matthew and Jadwiga Dziewguc and was raised there graduating from Salem High School. She had resided in Peabody for the past 60 years. She had been employed at the General Electric Company in Lynn for 36 years prior to her retirement in 1985. She had been an active member and founder of the former St. Joseph Church in Peabody and was a member of the Holy Rosary Society. She also enjoyed knitting, playing cards, collecting different items and was happiest taking care of her grandchildren. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Barbara Smyrnios of Peabody, a daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Judson Rawding of Brookfield, CT, five grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, two sisters, Helen Gagnon of Salem and Florence Grzybinski of Boxford, two brothers, Val Dalton and Mitch Dalton both of California and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late John Jefgood and the former wife of Peter Smyrnios of Santa Fe, New Mexico. A visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn ST., Peabody facility. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday from the Funeral Home at 8:00 AM followed by a Funeral Mass in ST. John’s Church, Peabody at 9:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Burial will be in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Salem.
