Stanley W. Krygowski
PEABODYStanley W. Krygowski, beloved husband of Shirley (Pothier) Krygowski of Peabody, died Monday morning at the Shaughnessy-Kaplan Rehabilitation Hospital in Salem following a brief illness.
Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Walter and Helen (Sobolewski) Krygowski. He lived in Lynn in his youth, and attended Lynn schools. He graduated from Lynn Classical High School, then Northeastern University for undergraduate and Masters Degree in Business. He lived in Peabody for the last 44 years.
Mr. Krygowski was appointed in 1968 as President, Director and C.E.O. of Malden Hospital for 30 years of service before retiring in 1998, and assisted with the transition to Hallmark Healthcare in 1999. He was President of North Suburban Health Systems, Inc.
Stanley served with many community organizations, and was a Past President of Malden Rotary Club, the Malden Chamber of Commerce, member of the Finance Committee and a Trustee at Eastern Bank, was instrumental in the development of Community Hospitals of Eastern Middlesex County (C.H.E.M.).
His professional affiliations include a Fellow of the American Association of Hospital Accountants, member of the American College of Hospital Administrators, was a Guest Lecturer of Finance at Boston University, earned an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Endicott College in 1996.
He served as a Captain in the Massachusetts Army National Guard for 17 years.
He also enjoyed avocations as an Outdoorsman with fishing and hunting, was a communicant at St. John the Baptist Church in Peabody, and enjoyed time spent with his family and friends.
He will be dearly missed by friends and family, including: his wife, Shirley (Pothier) Krygowski of Peabody, with whom he shared 48 years of marriage; his children & their spouses, Denise & Jim Fox of NY, Steven & Tina Krygowski of CT, and Diane Krygowski of NJ; three grandchildren, Jessica and James Fox of CT and Katie Krygowski of CT; a brother Leonard & Iris Krygowski of FL; as sister, Mary Ann & Lewis Smith of NH, and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody on Wednesday from 4 - 8 P.M.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to his funeral on Thursday at 10 AM from the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM in St. John’s Church, Peabody.
Cremation will follow after the Mass.
