Obituary of Guilhernina L. Medina

Guilhermina L. Medina, 82, of Peabody, died Thursday morning at her home following a brief illness. Born in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Jose and Maria (Cunha) Medina. In 1968, she immigrated to the United States where she settled in Peabody and has lived there ever since. She worked as a machine operator for the Ideal Baby Shoe Company in Danvers and later for Corrugated Container in Wakefield until her retirement many years ago. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church and often volunteered her time during church activities. She also was a member of the Holy Ghost Society. She enjoyed gardening and more importantly, enjoyed spending time with her family. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jose Antonio and Margarida Silva of Charlotte, NC, a daughter and son-in-law, Laudelina and Eugenio Pimentel of Azores, Portugal, a daughter-in-law, Lucia Silva of Peabody, a sister, Maria Espinola of Peabody and 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Ivo and Manuel Medina. She was the mother of the late Durval Silva. Her funeral service will be held on Monday at 9:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours are on Sunday from 3:00 until 6:00 PM. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
