Obituary of Rose (Saraiva) Sameiro

Rose (Saraiva) Sameiro PEABODY Rose (Saraiva) Sameiro, 97, beloved sister and brother-in-law of Arminda & Ret. Peabody Police Sgt Henry Coito of Peabody, died unexpectedly Monday morning at the Peabody Glen Nursing Home following a brief illness. Born in Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Cezar and Mary (Perfeito) Coito. She emigrated to the United States, where she became a Citizen. She lived in Brockton for many years, then moved out to the Santa Clara, CA area where she lived for 45 years. She lived in Peabody for the last 11 years. Mrs. Sameiro was an accomplished Seamstress, and worked with her husband, the late Joaquim Sameiro, and co-owned and operated the Sameiro Cleansers for 20 years before she retired 33 years ago. She was very active in the Portuguese-American community in the Santa Clara area, including the Portuguese-Continental Union, Lodge 10 in Santa Clara, was a member of several social clubs, and active in St. Claire’ s Five Wombs Church. She is survived by: her sister and brother-in-law, Arminda & Henry Coito, a retired Peabody Police Sgt., of Peabody; and many nieces and nephews, and friends. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5 to 8 P.M. in the Conway facility at 12 Chestnut St. of the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Santa Clara, CA with burial in Santa Clara Mission Cemetery there.
