Obituary of Raymond H. Carter
Raymond H. Carter, 82, of Peabody and formerly of Rocky Hill, CT, died early Friday morning at his home following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Gilberte (Bernard) Carter with whom he shared over 52 years of marriage.
Born in Waterville, Maine, he was the son of the late Philippe and Adeline (Talbot) Carter. In his youth, he moved to Hartford, CT and for over 40 years lived in Rocky Hill, CT. He has spent the last two years living in Peabody.
He worked for over 39 years as a machinist at the Pratt Whitney Aircraft Group in East Hartford, CT, retiring in June of 1981. He was an avid UCONN Basketball fan and also loved to cook.
He is survived by a son, Jack Carter of Peabody, a daughter, Anne G. Sullivan of Tyngsboro, two sisters, Rita Screen of New Britain, CT, and Terry Carter of Newington, CT, 4 grandchildren, Raymond Carter, and J.J., Stephanie, and Thomas Sullivan, and is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Jacqueline Purzycki.
His Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 10:00 AM in St. Adelaide’s Church, Peabody, MA. A one hour visitation will be held prior to the service from 8:30 -9:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody Facility to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
