Obituary of Edward Joseph Kline

Edward J. Kline, 56, of Salem and formerly of Peabody, died early Wednesday evening at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, following a lengthy battle with cancer. Born in Salem, he was the son of Marjorie (Swanson) Kline of Peabody and the late George Kline. He was raised and educated in Peabody, attended Peabody Public Schools and was a graduate of Peabody High School, class of 1968. He continued his education at Salem State College and received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology in 1972. He taught chemistry and biology for three years at the Brown Junior High School in Malden. He then owned and operated EJ Jewelers for a number of years and since 1996 he partnered with Scott McDonough to own and operate the original Bob’s discount Furniture store in Revere and the Cape Cod area. He traveled extensively throughout the Far East, China, India and Taiwan, searching for furniture and jewelry to bring back to the United States. Besides his loving mother, he is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Stephen and Donna Kline of Peabody. His funeral service will be held on Saturday at 9:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Ann’s Church, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours are today from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty St., Danvers, MA 01923.
