Obituary of Carl W. Herwig

Carl W. Herwig, 53, of Peabody died Saturday February 17, 2007 at the Massachusetts General Hospital following a lengthy illness. Mr. Herwig was born on May 31, 1953 in Salem son of Fred G. and Mary A. (Pegoraro) Herwig. He was raised in Peabody and graduated from Peabody Veterans Memorial High School class of 1971. He then pursued his education at North Shore Community College. He was a lifelong resident of the city. Mr. Herwig was employed as a color matcher at Stahl Industries in Peabody until his retirement disability in 1992. He was a member of the Italian American Citizens Club and the Peabody Lodge of Elks 1409 in Peabody. He had an extensive music collection and his special love was the restoring of his antique 1953 Buick Classic. In addition to his parents of Peabody, he is survived by his siblings, Fred G. Herwig Jr. of Hathorne, Debra A. and her husband Louis R. Gentile of Beverly, Diane R. Thomas and Paul G. Herwig of Peabody; 3 nieces, Heather and April Thomas of Peabody and Kristen Herwig of Revere; 2 nephews, Louis Gentile III and Timothy Gentile of Beverly; a grandnephew, Nathan Conde of Revere and his beloved cats Hendryx and Bootsie. His funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday February 24, 2007 in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. (new location) Peabody. Relatives and friends may pay their respect Saturday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. A family committal of ashes will be held at a later date.
