Obituary of Barbara F. (Massey) Bozek

Barbara F. (Massey) Bozek, 84, wife of the late Edward J. Bozek, died Wednesday February 21, 2007 at the Seaview Retreat in Rowley with her family at her side. Mrs. Bozek was born on August 17, 1922 in Peabody daughter of the late Almon and Marion (Thomas) Massey. She was raised in Peabody and graduated from Peabody High School. Mrs. Bozek was a lifelong resident of the city. Mrs. Bozek was employed from 1966 as a chef at Brigham’s at the North Shore Shopping Center and later at Folsom’s Fish Market in Salem until her retirement in 1984. Mrs. Bozek devoted her entire life to her family. She was a member of the Peabody Historical Society, the Peabody Art Association and was a Girl Scout Leader for many years. She was also a costume designer for Alice P. Duffey Dancing School in Salem, enjoyed line-dancing, ceramics and traveled throughout the world with her son and his family. Mrs. Bozek received her religious education in the original South Congregation Church downtown and remained a member of the Congregational faith. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Nancy J. and John A. McCarthy of Peabody, E. Scott and Judith F. Bozek of the U. S. Embassy,Moscow, Russia and Suzanne M. and Thomas W. Doane of Amesbury; 3 sisters, Lois Fellows, Phyllis Bartkiewicz and Gertrude Dearborn all of Peabody; 5 grandchildren, Deborah Sousa of Peabody, David McCarthy of Assonet, Andrew Bozek of VA, Jeffrey Bozek of NH and Philip Bozek of PA; 4 great grandchildren, Samantha and Sarah Sousa, Jonathan and Kelly McCarthy and several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. Her siblings, Alice Massey, Eleanor Spinale and Shirley Meyers pre deceased her. Her funeral service will be held on Monday February 26, 2006 at 1 p.m. in the South Congregational Church, 60 Prospect St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St. (downtown location) Peabody. Burial will held in the spring at the Main Street Cemetery, Rowley.
