Obituary of Mary E. (Donovan) (MacIlvaine) Barnes
Mary G. (Donovan)(MacIlvaine), of Peabody and formally of Jamaica Plain, wife of the late Linwood MacIlvaine and the late Sydney Barnes, died early Thursday morning at the Salem Hospital following a brief illness
Born in Brookline, she was the daughter of the late Frederick & Gertrude (Becker) Donovan. She was raised in Jamaica Plain, and had attended Jamaica Plain High School. She later attended the Hitchcock Business School in Boston, and resided in Peabody for the past 42 years.
She had worked as a receptionist for Chiltons Greetings in Boston for ten years and later had worked for New England Motor Rate Bureau in Burlington for ten years before retiring in 1978.
She is survived by a sister of Dorothy Clifford of Dedham; 2 nieces, Marie Pace of Dedham, and Patricia Dineen of South Yarmouth; her devoted stepdaughter, Christine Dunne of Peabody. She was the sister of the late Frederick Donovan.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM in St. John’ s Church, Peabody. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 10- 11 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility. Burial in St. Joseph’ s Cemetery, West Roxbury.
