Obituary of Paul Maharris

Paul H. Maharris PEABODY—Paul H. Maharris, 82, of Middleton and formerly of Peabody, beloved husband of Yeasemon “Jesse” (Velonis) Maharris of Middleton, died unexpectedly Friday evening at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a brief illness. Born in Waterloo, Iowa, he was the son of the late Harry and Mary (Bradford) Maharris. He grew up in Moline, IL. He graduated from Augustana College in Rock Island, IL. He entered the United States Army where he was part of the Air Corps, during World War II and was essentially discharged from the United States Air Force. He came to Peabody where by fate and a family friend met his wife Jesse with whom he shared 50 years of marriage, and lived in the greater Peabody area for the last 51 years. Mr. Maharris worked as a Comptroller with Peabody Supply for many years until his retirement 15 years ago. He was a member of the Order of Ahepa in which he served as a Past District Governor, was a longtime member of St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Peabody, a member of the American Legion in Middleton. He enjoyed travel, especially to Aruba, and cruises, besides gathering with friends and family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by: his wife, Yeasemon “Jesse” (Velonis) Maharris of Middleton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Alexis & Steve Meader of Danvers and Kathryn & David Fossa of Middleton; six grandchildren, Tamara & Alysia Decker, T.J. Fossa, Nicole Fossa, Ashley & Kristin Meader, and several nieces and nephews. His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Service at 10 AM in St. Vasilios Church, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:30 to 8 P.M. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Memorial donations may be made to either St. Vasilios Altar Fund 7 Paleologos St., Peabody, MA 01960 or to Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers, MA 01923
