Obituary of Rita Marie (Smith) Brown

Rita M. (Smith) Brown, 90, wife of the late William W. Brown, died Monday evening February 26, 2007 at Hope Hospice House in Cape Coral, Florida. Mrs. Brown was born on March 15, 1916 in Marlboro, MA daughter of the late Warren and Jane (Gunning) Smith. She was raised and educated in Marlboro. She then pursued her education at Framingham State College where she received her Degree in Education in 1936. In the early 1950’s she moved to Peabody. Since 1983, she has resided with her daughter Terry moving with her in 2003 to Florida. Mrs. Brown taught 3rd grade at the South Memorial School in Peabody for many years until her retirement in 1978. She devoted her entire life to her family then to her 4 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was a communicant of St. Ann’s Church in Peabody and a member of the Massachusetts Teacher’s Association. She was also very involved with the Peabody Golden Agers with whom she traveled with extensively. As hobbies, she enjoyed dancing and reading. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Theresa “Terry” and Ted Paskowski of No. Ft. Myers, Fl, Sheila and William Burke and Patricia and Stephen Pedi all of Peabody; 4 grandchildren, William Jacavanco of Topsfield, Allayne Suke of Peabody, Kevin Burke of Marblehead and Greg Pedi of Pelham, NH and 11 great grandchildren. Her funeral will be held on Monday March 5, 2007 at 9 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., (new location) Peabody followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Ann Church, 140 Lynn St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Sunday from 4 to 7p.m. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
