Obituary of Olga (Bassios) Goutzos

Olga (Bassios) Goutzos, 96, of Peabody, died Friday evening at the Peabody Glen Nursing Home following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Peter Goutzos. Born Turkey, she was the daughter of the late John and Helen Bassios. She was raised in Eiprios, Greece until she was 9 years old then immigrated to the United States and has been a resident of Peabody ever since. In 1970, she became a Naturalized Citizen. In the early 1950’s she, along with her family, owned and operated the Kozy Korner on Walnut St in Peabody. She later worked at Rex Leather Company and tanned leather for many years, retiring in 1980. She loved to bake and cook, especially Greek cookies, and more importantly, she enjoyed caring for and taking care of her family. She is survived by two daughters-in-law, Marguerite Goutzos and Flora Goutzos, both of Peabody, 5 grandchildren, Peter Goutzos of Maine, Paula Goutzos of TN, Elaine Killilea, Perry Goutzos, and Diana LeFave, all of Peabody, 8 great grandchildren, Kristin Goutzos, Charles LeFave, Peter Morrissey, Catlin Reynolds Goutzos, Achilles Sanders, and Alexa, Christa, and Stephen Goutzos and is also survived by a great great grandchild, Christopher Moutsoulas. She was the mother of the late Charles, Louis, and Michael Goutzos, and grandmother of the late Michael Goutzos. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Peabody Facility, followed by Funeral Service at 11:00 AM in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours are on Tuesday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody
