Obituary of Ida M. (Perry) Cotoni

Ida M. (Perry) Cotoni, 85, of Peabody, died Sunday evening at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late John Cotoni. Born in Peabody, daughter of the late Manuel and Olympia (Santos) Perry. She was a life long resident of Peabody and attended Peabody Public Schools. She worked for 15 years as an assembler for GTE Sylvania on Loring Ave in Salem, Upon marrying her husband, she devoted her time to raising her family, and later to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading, listening to talk shows, and many years ago, she sang on the Portuguese Radio Station. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and will be dearly missed by all those who knew her, including her children, Dorothy Cotoni of Beverly, Irene York of Lynn, Nicholas and his wife Debra Cotoni of Peabody, with whom she shared a strong bond, Bernadette and her husband Paul Dulkis and Sharon and her husband Luis Mota, all of Peabody, and is also survived by a brother, John Perry of Peabody, 2 sisters, Mary Teixeira of Danvers and Rose Perry of Peabody, 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Alberto, Anthony, and William Perry, Evelyn Santos, Dorothy Sharkey, and Doris Edwards. Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 8:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:00 AM in St. John’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
