Obituary of Georgia (Sakkas) Galiotos
Georgia (Sakkas) Galiotos 76 years of Peabody, wife of the late Kostantinos Galiotos, died Tuesday at Salem Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Galiotos was born in May 10, 1928 in Kalamata Greece daughter of the late Kostantinos and Stavroula (Skizas) Sakkas. She emigrated to the United States 35 years ago making her home in Peabody.
Mrs. Galiotos was employed for a few years at the former Salem Shoe Factory in Salem until 1975. She enjoyed her family, loved gardening, knitting and crocheting. She was also a member of the Philoptohos Athena at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church.
She is survived by 2 daughters and their husbands, Avgerini and Peter Tzortzis, Angeliki and John Georgakopoulos all of Salem; a son William Galiotos of Reno NV; 3 grandchildren, Vasia Kalaras and Georgia Georgakopoulos both of Salem and Chrissa Malionek of Dover NH; a great grandchild, Pano Kalaras of Salem; 6 siblings residing in the United States and Greece and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held Friday at 9 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St., Location Peabody followed by a service at 10 a.m. in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 7 Paleologos St. Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Thursday 5 - 8 p.m. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
