Obituary of Soteria K. (Kyvernites) Papageorge

Soteria K. (Kyvernites) Papageorge, 97, of Peabody, wife of the late Nicholas D. Papageorge, died Sunday March 18, 2007 at her home surrounded by her family. Mrs. Papageorge was born on August 6, 1909 in Vathi, Samos, Greece daughter of the late John and Katirina (Papandrikera) Kyvernites. She immigrated to the United States and made her home in Hyannis. She then resided in Salem before moving to Peabody in 1938. Mrs. Papageorge devoted her entire life to her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a lifelong member of St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, St. Vasilios Philoptohos Society and was the last original member of the Pan Samian Society in Peabody. As hobbies, she enjoyed cooking and crocheting. Mrs. Papageorge is survived by her children, Florence N. Demille of Peabody and James N. Papageorge and his fiancée Diana Kalton of Viera, FL; her grandchildren and their spouses, John Demille of Orlando FL, Michael and Cindy Demille of Peabody, Nicholas and Melissa Demille of Danvers, Nicole Papageorge of Windham NH, Jessica and Joseph Pimentel of No. Palm Beach FL; 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Her grandson Donald S. Demille and her 10 siblings pre deceased her. Her funeral will be held Thursday March 22, 2007 at 9 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. (new location) Peabody followed by a service at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 7 Paleologos St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Wednesday 5 to 8 p.m. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her memory to St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 7 Paleologos St., Peabody 01960 or Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers MA 01923.
