Mary (Daley) O’Connell
PEABODYMary (Daley) O’Connell, 86, died Friday evening at the Sunrise at Gardner Park Assisted Living Center in Peabody following a brief illness.
Born in Peabody, she was a lifelong resident of the city. She was the daughter of the late James and Marie (Hallinan) Daley. She attended Peabody schools and graduated from Peabody High School, Class of 1939. She continued her studies at Hawthorne Institute in Salem for Business and Secretarial studies.
She started her career with New England Telephone & Telegraph in Peabody, and retired as Supervisor of Accounting with Verizon.
Ms. O’Connell was a member of the Telephone Pioneers Club, St. John’s Sodality, and enjoyed skiing. She appreciated the world and was fortunate to travel extensively.
She is survived by: a brother, William Daley of Manchester, MA; a sister, Margaret Chenery of Peabody; a very special cousin, James Daley of Peabody;a sister-in-law, Alice Daley of Salem, and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn ST. location, Peabody, followed by a
Funeral Mass at 11 AM in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Cremation will follow the Mass, and
urn burial will be at a future date.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers, MA 01923.
