Obituary of Joseph J. Cola
Joseph J. Cola, 83, of Peabody, died early Saturday morning at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of the late Pauline (Leiter) Cola.
Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late Giovanni and Maria (DalBon) Cola. He raised and educated in Peabody and graduated from Peabody High School in 1942. After High School, he enlisted with United States Army and served during World War II and was Honorable discharged in March of 1949.
After the War, he worked for over 25 years in Peabody’s Leather Industry, mostly with the Verza Tanning Company. He was a member of the Italian American Club in Peabody, and when he was younger, he enjoyed pheasant hunting with his brother.
He is survived by a sister, Grace Cola of Peabody and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Valentino Cola, Anita Ventura, Mary Carnera, and Josephine Neal.
His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Peabody Facility to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
