Obituary of Joao Lima

Joao, Lima, 76, of Central St., Peabody, died early Monday morning at the Melrose- Wakefield Hospital following a short illness. He was the Husband of Maria L (Silva) Lima of Peabody. Born and raised in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal, he was the son of the late Joao L. & Filomena (da Gloria) Reis. He emigrated to the United States in 1967 has been a resident of Peabody for the past 35 years. He had worked as a machine operator for Maynard Plastics in Salem and at the Kernwood restaurant in Lynnfield before retiring a few years ago. He also was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima, Church in Peabody. Besides his wife he is survived by 5 sons and a daughter-in-law, Anthony N. Lima of Lynn, John M. & Rose Lima of Lumberton, TX, Joseph G. Lima of Peabody, Paul G. Lima of Salem, and Luis V. Lima of Beverly; 3 daughters and 2 sons-in-law, Maria F. & Edward LaBonte of Fla., Rosa Maria & Basil Lima of Peabody, and Almerinda S. Lima of Salem; a brother and sister-in-law, Manuel & Maria-Zulmira Lima of Peabody; 2 sisters and a brother-in-law, Rosa & Jose Machado of Peabody and Maria Reis of Portugal, 15 grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. His funeral will be held on Thursday at 8:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Fatima Church at 9:00 AM to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Wednesday from 5-8 PM. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem.
