Obituary of Sister Grace Pizzimenti, S.N.D.

Sr. Grace Pizzimenti, S.N.D., 82, of Ipswich, died April 3, 2007 at the Sr. Julie Billiart Residential Care Center in Ipswich. Sr. Grace was born on July 28, 1924 in Boston, daughter of the late Paul and Concetta (Perillo) Pizzimenti. Sr. Grace entered the sisters of Notre Dame de Namur Novitiate at Waltham on August 5, 1946, professed her First Vows on January 30, 1949 and her Final Vows on July 30, 1954 and took her Religious name as Sr. Paula Julie, S.N.D. Sr. Grace’s studies were at Girl’s Latin School, Emmanuel College, Catholic University in Washington, DC, Middlebury College and Boston College. Her ministries were at NDA in Tyngsboro, St. Mary’s in Cambridge, Bishop Stang in North Dartmouth and Bishop Fenwick in Peabody. From 1982, Sr. Grace was a Professor of Spanish and Italian languages and also taught literature at Emmanuel College. Sr. was also fluent in French. In addition to her Sisters of Notre Dame family, Sr. Grace leaves a niece, Fredricka “Ricky” Scola of Peabody; her 2 nephews and their spouses, Anthony and Daria Vitale of Peabody and Paul and Sharon Vitale of Ashland; numerous grand nieces and nephews and great grand nieces and nephews. Her sister Frederica Vitale pre deceased her. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday April 9, 2007 at 3 p.m. in Our Lady Queen Chapel, 30 Jeffrey’s Neck Rd., Ipswich. Relatives and friend may pay their respect Monday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Sisters of Notre Dame in Ipswich. Burial services will be held Tuesday April 10, 2007 at 10 a.m. in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, 185 Lake St., Peabody.
