Obituary of Charles Peter Themes

Charles Themes, 76, of Peabody, died early Saturday morning at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, following a brief illness. Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late Peter and Vasiliki (Chronis) Themes. He was a lifelong resident of Peabody and a graduate of Peabody High School. Charles served his country honorable for over 28 years as a Construction Mechanic Chief with United States Navy. He served in North Africa, the Caribbean, South Pole, Diego Garcia, India Ocean, Korean and Vietnam and later in Greece for the US 6th fleet. After his retirement from the military, he worked as chief engineer at both the Salem Hospital and Beverly Hospital, before finally retiring a few years ago. He was a member of the Disabled American Veteran’s, Chapter 100 in Peabody and served as Commander, the Veteran’s of Foreign War, Post 1011 in Peabody and served as Quartermaster, a 40 year member of the Fleet Reserve Association, Branch 31 in Peabody and was a Mason with the Masonic Jordan Lodge AF & AM in Peabody, and he was a member of the Beverly Elks. He also enjoyed Ball Room Dancing at the Wonderland Ballroom in Revere, and he was a lifelong member of St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Peabody. He is survived by a brother and sister, Steven and Stella Themes, both of Peabody, two nieces, Angela Themes and her husband James Quatrale, and Paula and her husband, John Powers, two great nieces Erinn and Keelinn and a great nephew, Brendan. He was the brother of the late Angelo Themes. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody Facility, followed by Services at 10:00 AM in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM with a Masonic Service at 7:00 PM in the Funeral Home. Burial in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Salem.
