Obituary of Mary Theresa Gately

Mary Theresa Gately, 78, of Peabody and formerly of Braintree and Dorchester, died peacefully Thursday morning at the Peabody Glen Nursing Home following a brief illness. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Bridget (Doherty) Gately. She was raised and educated in Dorchester, later lived in Braintree and has spen the last 10 years living in Peabody. She was the sister of Joseph Gately of Chelsea and Katherine McNeil of Port Charlotte, Fla, and sister of the late Thomas Gately. She worked as principle interviewer for the Massachusetts State Department of Employment for over 18 years, retiring in 1996. Her Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Peabody facility, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in St. John’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
