Obituary of Charles R. McDonald

Charles R. McDonald, Jr., 63, of Peabody, died peacefully Saturday afternoon at his home following a long illness. He was the former husband of Lorraine (Griffin) Kokinis of Danvers. Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Charles R. McDonald, Sr., and Mary (Chmiel) McDonald. He was a lifelong resident of Peabody and attended Peabody Public Schools. He served in the infantry unit with the National Guard during the 1960's and was honorable discharged. He also was a manager at the Sunoco Gas Station in Beverly for many years and prior to that he owned and operated a Variety Store in Central Square in Lynn for over 5 years. He enjoyed watching old Western Movies, the GEM Network, and collecting coins. He also was an avid sports fan of the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox. He is survived by a son Doug McDonald formerly of Peabody and is now living in Washington State, a daughter, Charlene McDonald of Peabody, an uncle, Eddie Chmiel of Peabody, a granddaughter, Makayla McDonald,of Washington State, and is also survived by his pet dog, Emma Rose. His Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. Peabody Facility, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours are on Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Arthritis Foundation, 29 Crafts St., Suite 450, Newton, MA 02158
