Obituary of Charles C. "Charlie" Fagone
Charles C. “Charlie” Fagone, 88, of Peabody formerly of Arlington, April 19, 2007, loving husband of Josephine (DiMatteo) Fagone.
Mr. Fagone was born on July 2, 1918 in Boston, son of the late Giuseppe and Rose (Catozzi) Fagone. He was raised in Boston and graduated from the Boston Trade School class of 1937. He then pursued his education and received his Bachelor Degree in Education from Boston Teacher’s College in 1959 and his Master’s from Northeastern University in 1963. He resided in Arlington for 47 years before moving to Brooksby Village in Peabody 6 weeks ago.
Mr. Fagone’s working career began as a tool & dye maker. He later taught at the Arlington Vocational School, then became the Director of Media for the Arlington School System and retired as assistant to the superintendent for building construction, positions that he held for 33 years before his retirement in 1983. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Ansonia Council in Boston and the Irish American Club in Arlington. As a hobby he enjoyed baking.
In addition to his wife of 68 years, he is survived by his children and their spouses, Conrad C. and Jeanette Fagone of Arlington and Beverly A. and Robert Harris of Chagrin Falls OH; a sister, Lucy Fiandacca of East Boston; his grandchildren, Deborah A. Fagone of Arlington, Steven K. Fagone and his fiancée Nicole Luzaich of San Anselmo CA, Amy A. Lind and her husband Kevin of Newton and Jennifer Cottone of Jamaica Plains; a great granddaughter, Anna Louise Fagone of Sudbury; many nieces and nephews. His daughter Barbara J. Cottone, 2 brothers and a sister pre deceased him.
His funeral will be held Tuesday April 24, 2007 at 8:45 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. (new location) Peabody followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Richard of Chichester Church, 90 Forest St., Danvers. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Monday 5 to 8 p.m. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers MA 01923 or the Donald S. Kaufman Cancer Research and Education Fund, C/O Erika D.
