Obituary of Sophie (Tyburc) Gruntkosky

Sophie (Tyburc) Gruntkosky PEABODY--Sophie (Tyburc) Gruntkosky, 88, died peacefully Monday morning at the Essex Park Nursing Facility in Beverly following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Joseph Gruntkosky. Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Bronislaw and Anastasia (Rynkowski) Tyburc. She was raised and educated in Peabody, and was a graduate of Peabody High School and a lifelong resident. She was an inspector with Mediplex, a medical supply company in Beverly until her retirement in 1997. She also was a member of the Veteran’s Women’s Auxiliary Group, the St. Michael’s Club, both in Peabody, and a member of the Polish Club in Danvers. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph Gruntkosky Jr. and his wife Judy of Bellevue, Iowa, William and Jean Gruntkosky of Alton, NH, and Thomas and Anne Gruntkosky of Beverly, six grandchildren, Jodi Terry, Jacqueline Arthur, and Jason, Toby, Melissa, and Timothy Gruntkosky, 4 great grandchildren, Brianna, Megan, and Lauren Jimmerson, and Andrew Arthur. She was the sister of the late Edward Tyburc, Julia Dzirck, and Wanda Amatucci. Her funeral mass will be held on Monday at 9:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM.
