Obituary of Shirley Regina (Glass) Schroeder

Shirley Regina (Glass) Schroeder, 70, of Peabody, died early Thursday evening at the Rosewood Nursing Home in Peabody following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Daniel H. Schroeder. Born in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late Arnaud and Irene (MacLean) Glass. She was raised and educated in Salem, attended Salem Public Schools and graduated from Salem High School. She has spent the last 50 years living in Peabody. She worked as an assembler for many years at the former Avnet Company in Peabody before retirement. After she retired, she worked an additional 6 years as a cashier in the electronics department at Wal-Mart She enjoyed playing keno and bingo, and also enjoyed dancing, crocheting, and knitting. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Kevin Furey of Peabody and Dianne and Robert Newcomb of New Market, NH, five grandchildren, Steven Parker Jr., Siobhan and Sean Furey, and Scott and Angel Newcomb, and two great grandchildren, Jada Gill and Rosalie Newcomb. She was the mother of the late William Choquette and sister of the late Richard D. Glass. Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 11:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St; Peabody Facility to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the American Lung Assoc., 460 Totten Pond Rd., Suite 400, Waltham, MA 02451.
