Kenneth W. Larson
PEABODYKenneth W. Larson, 75, died unexpectedly at the Beverly Hospital early Sunday morning after a brief illness.
Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Carl W. and Gerda (Johnson) Larson. He lived in Lynn for most of his life, and graduated from Lynn Classical High School. He lived in Danvers for the last 28 years.
Mr. Larson served his Patriotic Duty with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, and was stationed in Germany.
Upon returning Stateside, he owned and operated 20th Century Photo Studio in Lynn. He later worked as a Salesperson with Jordan Marsh in Boston, in the Luggage and Sporting Goods Departments. He was employed 12 years as a Tax Examiner with the Internal Revenue Service until his retirement.
Ken enjoyed people, especially hosting social gatherings, entertaining, decorating and traveling. He traveled extensively throughout the United States, enjoyed Canada, and had great joy visiting Europe and his native heritage homeland and family in Sweden. He was a member of the Vasa Order of America, Three Crowns Lodge of Lynn, the Independent Order of Vikings, Gripsholm Lodge, Lynn, the Masonic Lodge of Lynn. He was a member of the Danvers VFW, the American Legion, the Polish Club in Danvers, the Danvers Senior Citizens, and was active in numerous political campaigns for local Selectman, State or Federal campaigns. He also was a member of NARFE for retired Federal employees, and enjoyed candle making. He was known as a wonderful gentleman and will be missed by many.
He is survived by: a dear friend, Cal McCarthy of Danvers; a nephew, Stephen Carlson of Saugus; a cousin, Gail Atherton of DeBarry, FL, and other cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Carlson who lived in Saugus.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 7 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9 AM from the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Salem/Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited.
Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
Memorial donations may be made to the Discalced Carmelite Monastery, Northshore Ave, Danvers, MA 01923.
