Obituary of William D. O'Leary
William D. O’Leary, 80, of Cambridge, died Friday afternoon at the Academy Manor Nursing Home in Andover after a long illness.
He was born in Medford, Ma., the son of the late Michael and Anne Marie (Welby) O’Leary and was raised in Brighton graduating from St. Columbkill High School in 1945.
He then entered the US Navy and was a veteran of WW 11 prior to his discharge.
He had been a pressman with the Boston Globe for 36 years prior to his retirement. He enjoyed traveling and watching Boxing Matches and Boston Sports.
He is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Thomas M. and Mary O’Leary of West Peabody, two sisters and a brother-in-law, Juliet and John Mc Ardle of Topsfield and Mary Anne O’Leary of West Roxbury and five nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St.,(downtown location) Peabody. His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Adelaide’s Church, Lowell St., West Peabody at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, West Peabody. Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Jude Children Research, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in his memory.
