Obituary of Joseph J. Walor

Joseph J. Walor, 96, of Danvers and formerly of Peabody, died Tuesday afternoon at Salem Hospital following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of the late Josephine C. (Luczko) Walor with whom he shared over 71 years of marriage. Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late John and Henrietta (Buras) Walor. He was raised and educated in Peabody, later lived in Salem for 20 years, moved back to Peabody for 50 years and has been living in Danvers the past 5 years. He worked for over 40 years for A.C. Lawrence in Peabody in the delivery department before retiring in 1972. After his retirement, he worked an additional 22 years at the Romie’ s Restaurant in Danvers in the maintenance department. He enjoyed traveling and dancing and was a member of the Golden Agers and the Peter A. Torigian Community Life Center in Peabody. He also was a member of St. Michael’ s Society and was a founder member and builder of St. Joseph’ s Church in Peabody. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Louise and Richard Madore of Georgetown, and Delores and Conrad Lachendro of Enfield, Ct; two brothers, Louis Walor of Beverly and Frederick "Pat" Walor of Dracut; a sister, Nellie Merrill of Peabody; 5 grandchildren Christopher and his wife Crystal Lachendro of Enfield, Ct, Kevin and Cheryl Lachendro of Georgetown, Jeffrey and his wife Linda Madore of Vernon Hills, IL, Brenda Madore Mortimer and her husband Michael of Millis, and Andrea Madore of Salem, and is also survived by eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Walter, Stanley, Bruno, Michael, Frank, and Helen Walor and Julia O'Donnell. His funeral service will be held on Monday at 9:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Sunday from 3 until 6 PM. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem.
