Obituary of Marie E. (La Camera) Brown

Marie E. (La Camera) Brown PEABODY—Marie E. (La Camera) Brown, 83, beloved wife of the late James R. Brown, Jr., died peacefully at her home early Saturday morning following a long illness. Born in Dorchester, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Katherine (Giuffre) La Camera. She lived there in her youth, and graduated from the Jeremiah E. Burke High School in Dorchester, Class of 1941. She lived in Brighton for a few years, then moved to Peabody where she lived for the last 44 years. Besides nurturing her family, Mrs. Brown worked the Group W, WBZ, for a number of years, then most recently she was employed as a Secretary 21 years for the Massachusetts Teachers Association before her retirement. Marie was an active communicant of St. John the Baptist Church in Peabody, and was a member of the Ladies Sodality. She is survived by: three sons and daughters-in-law, James & Karen Brown of Andover, Jeffrey & Amy Brown of Harwood, MD, and Gregory & Jennifer Page Brown of Gaithersberg, MD; seven grandchildren, Sara, Jennifer, Lauren, Jeffrey “JT”, Anne Marie, Timothy and Haley Brown; a sister, Margaret Casey of FL, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death, besides her husband, by a brother Anthony LaCamera and sister Catherine Lauria. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5 to 8 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody. Her funeral will be held on Thursday, gathering at 10 AM from the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM in St. John’s Church, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited.
