Obituary of Albert H. Kostos
Albert H. Kostos, 84, of Peabody and formerly of Lynn, died Monday evening at the Shaughnessy Rehabilitation Hospital in Salem following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Trudy (Jeffrey) Kostos with whom he shared over 56 years of marriage.
Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Haralambos and Efpraxia (Andriopoulos) Kostopoulos. He was raised and educated in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School, class of 1941. He has spent the last 57 years living in Peabody.
Mr. Kostos served his country with the United States Army from 1942 until his honorable discharge in 1946. He served in Central Europe and was the recipient of the American Theatre Campaign Ribbon, Victory Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Theatre Campaign Ribbon.
After the War, he embarked on a 39 year career as a letter carrier in Swampscott with the United States Postal Service. He also enjoyed doing landscaping as a part time hobby.
He enjoyed traveling, gardening, watching the Red Sox and the Patriots, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Besides his loving wife of 56 years, he was the loving father of Paul and his wife Patricia Kostos, and Steven and his wife Anne Kostos, grandfather of Michael and David Kostos and Laura, Alex, and Adam Kostos, all of Peabody. He was the father of the late Julie Anne Kostos.
His Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 9:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., followed by Services at 10:00 AM in St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church, Lynn, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
