Obituary of Joseph L. "Sonny" Javery

Joseph L. “Sonny” Javery, 70, of Lynn died Tuesday May 22, 2007 at Lynn Union Hospital after a brief illness. Mr. Javery was born on July 22, 1936, in Lynn son of the late Joseph J. and Antoinette M. (Banville) Javery. He was raised in Lynn and graduated from Lynn Classical Class of 1954. He then pursued his education at North Shore Community College with a major in history. Sonny was a lifelong resident of Lynn. Mr. Javery began his working career as a cab driver for the Yellow Checker Cab Company in Lynn where he was employed for many years. For the past 10 years, he had been employed as a parking attendant at the Pinstripe Parking Garage in Boston. Sonny was a history buff, he also enjoyed poetry and was a published poet. He is survived by his children, Shirley A. Evans and her husband Glen, Marie A. “Toni” Javery and her companion Gary Clements, Deborah A. Texeira all of Lynn, Joseph J. Javery and his wife Deborah of Peabody and Michael D. Javery and his companion Melanie Dube of No. Andover; 2 brothers, Dennis Javery of FL and Jean Paul Javery of NH; 2 aunts, Yvonne Skorakis and Madeline Folan both of Lynn; 12 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; his longtime companion Patricia Hill of Lynn, his former wife Janet (Sawyer) Arsenault of Peabody and several nieces and nephews. His sibling Charles Javery pre deceased him. A memorial service will be held Saturday May 26, 2007 at 12 p.m. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. (new location) Peabody. The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. A family committal of ashes will be held at a later time.
