Obituary of Ruth T. McLaughlin

Ruth T. McLaughlin PEABODY Ruth T. McLaughlin, 75, an Art Education Teacher in the Wakefield Public School System, died Saturday evening at the Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NH, following a long illness. Born in Somerville, she was the daughter of the late William P. and Sarah M. (Babcock) McLaughlin. She lived in Somerville in her youth, and graduated from Mt. St. Joseph Academy High School in Brighton. She then graduated from St. Joseph College in Framingham and took vows to enter religious life as a Sister of St. Joseph for 34 years. Miss McLaughlin took her avocation in the arts, and began her teaching career in Brookline, Mattapan, Lynn and left the Sisters of St. Joseph, and eventually was employed with the Town of Wakefield at the Atwells School before retiring about eight years ago. Her specialty was in sculpture, stained glass, and painting, and she was a very devoted and faithful woman in the church. She is survived by: a dear friend, Corinne Tobin of Rochester, NH; two sisters, Mary I. Suprenant of Sun City Center, FL and Sister Patricia McLaughlin, CSJ, of Fontbonne Hall, Framingham, MA, and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was sister of the late William P. McLaughlin, Jr. and Eileen L. Mann. Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 9 AM from the Conway facility at 12 Chestnut St. of the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in St. Adelaide’ s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
