Obituary of Katherine (Brennan) McNamee Sidman

Katherine H. (Brennan) McNamee Sidman, 90, of Peabody died early Thursday morning at the Salem Hospital after a short illness. She was the wife of Max Sidman of Peabody and earlier the wife of the late William J. McNamee. She was born in Salem, MA on October 16, 1916, the daughter of the late James F. and Agnes (Fitzpatrick) Brennan and was a graduate of St. James High School in 1933 and later attended Salem Commercial School and Wellesley College. She had resided in Salem before moving to Peabody 25 years ago. She had been an executive financial secretary at Ted Hood Sails in Marblehead for several years prior to her retirement in 1975. She had served on the Peabody Council on Aging and the St. John’s Prep St. William’s Guild and the Bishop Fenwick Ladies Guild. She was an avid reader, enjoyed reading and playing golf and tennis. She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Max Sidman, four sons and daughters-in-law, Patrick and Eve McNamee of Salem, William and Jan McNamee of Edmonton, Canada, James and Arlene McNamee of New Bedford, MA, and Dr. Mark and Carole McNamee of Blacksburg, VA, a daughter, Johanna McNamee of Derry, NH, her step-children, Steven and Brenda Sidman of Scarborough, ME, Rosanne Karp of Quincy, Ma and Peter Sidman of Hamilton, NJ, her grandchildren, Aaron, Katie, Joel and Mark McNamee, Julie Cook, Beth Mathiesen, Casie Soter , Deena Fisher, her step-grandchildren, Saundia, Jessica, Angela and Hilary Sidman, Matthew Karp and Stacy Uniack and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Francis and Arthur Brennan, Mary Day and Agnes Caron. A visitation will be held on Friday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. Her Funeral will be held on Saturday at 9:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by A Funeral Mass in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Peabody/Salem Line, Rte 114 at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
