Obituary of Carmine D. Buono
Carmine D. Buono, 74, of Peabody and formerly of East Boston, died peacefully Friday evening at Salem Hospital following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of the late Annette (Costagliola) Buono.
Born in East Boston, he was the son of the late Pasquale and Mildred (Silvio) Buono. He was raised and educated in East Boston, and was a graduate of Boston Technical High School, class of 1950. He has lived in Peabody for the past 43 years.
He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and was honorable discharged in March of 1955. After the war, he worked for over 40 years for the city of Boston as a Chief Civil Engineer, retiring just before the “Big Dig” project in 1990.
Carmine enjoyed cooking, especially Italian food, and was a member of the Italian American Club in Peabody. He also was an avid Red Sox fan.
He is survived by his loving children, Pamela Buono and her companion Wesley Bernard of Shasta Lake, CA and Peter and his wife Laura Buono of Weare, NH, his siblings, Richard and his wife Geraldine Buono of Peabody, and Geraldine Cavalho of Hanover, his loving grandchildren, Amanda Woodward, Christina and Angela Buono, and Jessica and Meggin Petrain. He was the brother of the late Gerald and Robert Buono.
His funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 8:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:00 AM in St. Adelaide’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the North Shore Cancer Center, 17 Centennial Dr., Peabody, MA 01960.
