Obituary of Erwin W. Nelson

Erwin Wright Nelson, 92, of Peabody, died Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at the Salem Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Annabella (Dougall) Nelson. He was born in Peabody on January 6, 1915, the son of the late Harry and Marion (Mac Neil) Nelson and was raised in Lynn graduating from Lynn English High School in 1932 and had resided in Peabody for the past 53 years. He had been employed as a Senior Purchasing Agent at the General Electric Co., Riverworks plant in Lynn for 35 years. He then attended and graduated from North Shore Community College and became a paralegal and advocate with the North Shore Elder Services of Lynn for 20 years. He was a distinguished veteran of WW 11 serving overseas in Europe and African campaigns with the US Army Air Corps and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was also an amateur photographer and did many weddings under the name of Color Candid by Erwin. He enjoyed traveling to Scotland and England. Mr. Nelson was a member of the Jordan Lodge of Masons, A.F. & A.M. of Peabody. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Martha Nelson of Braintree, a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Lawrence Grillo of Weymouth, MA, a brother, Maynard Nelson of Nahant, a sister, Janet Dodier of NH, 5 grandchildren, Scott Grillo of NYC, NY, Andrew Grillo of Atlanta, GA, Lauren Grillo of Charlestown, Amy Nelson of Weymouth and Laurie Nelson of Braintree, 2 great grandchildren, Merelle Scott and Hollis Grae Grillo, and many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM in the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, West Peabody.
