Obituary of Eleanore V. "Babcia" (Cecelski) Birmingham

Eleanore V. “Babcia” (Cecelski) Birmingham, 67, of Peabody and Naples FL, died on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 while surrounded by her family. Eleanore was the beloved wife of the late John L. “Jack” Birmingham and will now join “the love of her life with whom she shared the best of times for 45 years”. Eleanore was born on May 29, 1940 in Salem, daughter of the late Arthur and Blanche (Drabinowicz) Cecelski. She was raised in Salem and received her education from Salem Classical High School, a Degree in Education and her Masters of Education from Salem State College. Eleanore was well loved and respected by her peers and students as a teacher at the South Congregational Day School, John E. Burke and Thomas Carroll Schools all in Peabody, enjoying a teaching career of 35 years until her retirement in 1998. She will be greatly missed by her family whom she adored and her numerous close friends. Eleanore was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Parish in Salem until her marriage to Jack and then was a communicant at St. John the Baptist Parish in Peabody and St. John the Evangelist Parish in Naples, FL and was active with many church organizations. She was a member of the Mass Teachers Association, the Peabody Municipal Employees Credit Union, the West Beach Corporation in Beverly Farms, the Arielle Bridge Club, the Club at Barefoot Beach and the Pelican Marsh Women’s League all in Naples. Eleanore is survived by her “boys” whom she adored and their spouses, Sean M. and Kimberly Birmingham of Danvers, Brian A. and Terri Birmingham of Peabody; her precious grandchildren, Conor, Molly, Reilly and Megan; her in-laws, Helen and James Sellers of Andover, Janet Birmingham of Peabody and Mary Morris of Eustis, ME and many nieces, nephews and close friends. Her brother Arthur R. Cecelski predeceased her. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at 8 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., facility, Peabody followed by a Memorial Mass at 9 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, 16 Church St., Peabody. The family will receive family and friends at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. Her burial of ashes will be held at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
