Harold was a quite, gentle man who touched the lives of so many of us, in many different ways. His unequaled love for his family, especially Dolores, not only his wife of over 49 years, but his best friend.

His involvement in this church, and in his 43 years working for Stop&Shop, Harold was loved by everyone that knew him, not just liked, but loved.

For about 20 years he was the Meat Manager in the Memorial Drive Stop & Shop, this was a busy, high profile store in Cambridge where many members of the Rabb family, witch owned the company at that time, shopped. The customers and all of his fellows employees loved his quite personable manner. His management style was unique, not only was Harold the most organized Meat Manager I ever met, but he let by example working as hard if not harder than everyone else. He was a teacher as well as a mentor to countless people, many moved on to successful positions in and outside of the company.

In 1987 he decided to give up being a manager, step back and become a cutter, this did not change Harold, he still helped everyone.

Although I had known Harold for many year’s the five years before he retired I was lucky enough to work with him in the Swampscott store.
Working with Harold, was like having your favorite teacher, your Uncle and your best friend rolled into one.
The man always had a kind word for everyone. He wanted to find the good in everyone. It took me a while, to figure out, Harold truly believed “If can’t say something good, say nothing at all”.
During that time I learned about his love of cooking, fishing, carpentry, this church, and most of all his family. As quite as he was, Harold had a great sense of humor; he was the perfect straight man to help with a practical joke. When every one around him was stressed and overreacting, “especially me”, he would point out the big picture and show me how silly I looked. Last year he helped plan our friend Tom O’Leary’s surprise 70th birthday party. My job was to make up a story to get Tom there, if I did it myself, Tom never would believe me, but having Harold involved backing my story we pulled it off.

In the 10 years since he retired, Harold and Dolores joined us at many times. when a group of us would go to North Shore Music Theater, a party, or just out to dinner. It was always more special when they joined us.

Even when he was sick he never complained. When I would call and ask, “how are you” he would say “pretty good” even though he had just got home from the hospital the day before.

Even in his last days his concern was for others.

Harold will live on in all of us that he touched; I know I am a better person for having him as my friend. May he rest in peace.
I've been remininicing about our days on Princeton St. and smiled when I, once again, thought, when I was about 6 or 7 years old, that I was going to marry my handsome cousin Harold when we grew up. Dolores and family, my love and prayers are with you. I know he had a wonderful happy life with all of you. All my Love, Eleanor

I've been remembering lately the cookouts we use to go to on the 4th of July at Harold and Delores's house. It seemed that whenever we saw him he always had a bid smile and was always laughing, that is how I will remember him.

I can't ever remember a time I didn't see Harold smiling, laughing. He was always genuinely happy to see you and greeted you with that contagious grin of his. You couldn't help but smile too.
